Fillers are substances that are injected into the skin to correct the imperfections of the face, and in particular to slow the signs of aging, eliminating wrinkles and furrows of the skin and to correct the volumes of the face (hypoplasia) and in particular to increase the volume of the cheekbones, chin and lips.

Technique, results and social of normal activities

The filler injections take place in the clinics, the infiltration techniques are held both with a very fine needle and/or with a micro cannula. Sometimes a small local anesthesia is performed.
The traumatism of a filler could involve the presence of small clinical secondary signs (There might be small haematomas resorbable in 3-4 days). The results and the return to normal activities are immediate.

Types of fillers or fillers

Some fillers are specific to treat wrinkles, and folds, while others are specific for the filling of the depressions.
The organic fillers are also called surface fillers and are totally and gradually riabsorbed by the skin using a digesting enzyme mechanism, and by the disintegration of the product caused by facial expression.
Organic fillers are, for example, bovine collagen, autologous collagen, hyaluronic acid, polylactic acid.
The organic fillers have a limited duration (average 3-9 months), but there is an extreme variability of permanence of the filler in the dermis, which varies from person to person and is also influenced by lifestyle (smoking habits, the usual intake of alcohol or spirits, exposure to sun or sunbeds).
